Middleton Lodge is a charming private country mansion in North Yorkshire. Set in 250 acres of private parkland, it was built in 1780 by architect John Carr of York. For over 30 years this impressive Georgian mansion has been home to the Allison family who have dedicated themselves to restoring the Estate to its former glory.

Over the last few years Middleton Lodge has become one of the country’s most unique settings for large and intimate weddings, corporate events, film shoots, photo shoots and for special celebrations. At Middleton Lodge their ethos is simple: whatever the reason or for however long you are staying, our aim is to make our home your home from the moment you arrive.

Middleton Lodge, just outside Middleton Tyas, near Richmond, has been named best wedding venue and the lodge’s Anna Russell picked up best wedding event team in the regional rounds of the Wedding Industry Awards.

James Allison, owner of the private mansion house which opens up for weddings, events, and a supper club, said he, his family and staff were thrilled.

“We were recognised in two awards which I understand is quite unusual – most venues or suppliers just take one each – so we are looking forward to going into the national round in January,” he said.

“To be shortlisted you must receive enough votes from your customers, and then a panel of judges decide overall winners.”

Middleton Lodge started holding weddings in 2008 and since then has grown and improved with each year – and the double win is the team’s first set of awards.

Mr Allison added: “Next year we will be adding a nine room boutique hotel and restaurant in the converted coach house.”

The Coach House at Middleton Lodge has honey-coloured sandstone buildings that have been sensitively restored, retaining many of the original features, with high ceilings, exposed beams and original timber panelling in many of the rooms.

The Stables Restaurant will show off high exposed ceilings and look out onto the courtyard and across the old paddock to the farm house.

As an extension of the highly successful Middleton Lodge Supper club, the food will be contemporary British fare, using local ingredients wherever possible.

“It is an exciting time for us – we are really excited about it because the whole team has worked really hard. We feel that it is well deserved for them.”

The awards, set up by wedding photographer Damian Bailey and his wife Anna, give venues and suppliers the chance to prove their worth in the competitive industry.

The finals of the national Wedding Industry Awards will take place in London’s Bloomsbury Ballroom, Victoria House, on January 15.
