There are many elements that make up a beautiful wedding, the most important of course is the couples love for one another that will shine through. Other elements such as stationery, flowers and the cake can help to bring together the style and colour scheme you’ve choosen for your special day, as can be seen by these stunning cakes from Cakes By Beth.
Award-winning, luxury wedding cake designer Cakes by Beth launches their latest collection of contemporary wedding cakes at The National Wedding Show, Manchester Central. The 2014 Collection is called “Colours”, and features six striking, modern designs with pops of colour used in innovative ways.
Cakes by Beth’s owner and wedding cake designer, Beth Mottershead says: “Every Spring, I launch a new wedding cake collection to show my latest design ideas and predictions for upcoming wedding cake trends. This year, colour is in and I wanted to really celebrate this in a fresh, modern way.” Each cake features a single colour; pink, plum, blue, teal, yellow and chocolate, from Pink Confetti with on-trend rice paper petals and ombre roses, to Parisian Romance with a softer, sultry take on classic monochrome.
Other designs are: Modern Wedgewood, bringing a classic design into the 21st Century with different shapes, textures and porcelain-style lilies; Black & Yellow, where striking geometric shapes meet vivid roses and peonies; and Winter Frost Birdcage, with a sculpted shape, sparkling ice trim and just a hint of plum berries.

The final design, Gold & Linen, featuring crisp lines, edible sequins and teal sugar succulents, will be showcased on stage, along with Beth’s top tips on ordering your perfect wedding cake.

Beth says: “I wanted to show how you can bring colour into your wedding cake without making it overly bright. By using lots of different tones or shades of the same colour, and highlighting key details against a neutral background. It can be both playful and beautiful.”

I’m a big fan of vintage style, my own wedding dress took inspiration from a gorgeous flapper dress I saw online for sale (unfortunately way too small for me! and not in great condition). Whatever style you’re looking for, feast your eyes on just a few of the beautiful gowns here – I wish I could have used all the images as they were all totally gorgeous!
Old Hollywood comes alive in the latest wedding dress collection from Justin Alexander
New York, New York- Brides will transform into true Hollywood sirens of our modern time with Justin Alexander’s Spring 2014 collection. The opulent designs were unveiled September 13, 2013.
The designs from the Spring 2014 collection will transform brides into true Hollywood sirens of our modern time. Brides will have the opportunity to walk down the aisle in red carpet-worthy looks. The collection pulls inspiration from the classic fashion periods of the 1920’s and 50’s, and updates the silhouettes and necklines to accommodate the modern bride. This stunning combination results in wedding dresses dripping in art deco details and very ladylike inspired beading and draping.
The wedding dresses from the Spring 2014 collection embrace the elegance of Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face and the finesse of Diana Vreeland’s classic style. With such fierce combination of fashion icons the collection focuses on creating unforgettable dresses. By including new softer shapes and cleaner lines, the collection aims to compliment and flatter an array of body types.
In true Justin Alexander fashion, the designs marry sensuality and refinement and this time it’s done by incorporating feminine sheer caplets, illusion necklines, and deep backs. Justin Alexander, known for its unique take on vintage wedding dresses, added a dramatic tiered ball gown and a flirty peplum silhouette to it’s line of silhouettes that already include sultry mermaids, elegant A-lines, fun tea lengths and classic ball gowns.
Echoing the rich heritage of Paris couture, the unique hand beading details create a luxurious antique feel by mixing pearl, silver and coffee jewels. The fine beading is constructed into incredible 3D details that provide flawless shimmering details that evoke timeless elegance.
